So having recently been to CERN in Geneva I have seen what happens at the LHC there. However they spend an enormous amount of money and energy in accelerating these protons to 99.999999% the speed of light. The question is do we think that the search for quantum particles is worth this time and money? It is of course not going to directly improve the quality of our lives but, as with the incident of probably discovering the higgs boson, it is going to make science more interesting but more complicated for the rest of us to comprehend.
